Youth Blacksmithing Ages 11 to 13

$70.00

Designed especially for homeschool and flex-schedule learners ages 11–13, this beginner-friendly blacksmithing class gives young makers the chance to experience the excitement of working at a real forge in a safe, structured environment. Each 2-hour class introduces students to basic blacksmithing tools and techniques while building confidence, focus, and problem-solving skills. Students will learn how metal moves under heat, how to use a hammer with control, and how simple techniques can shape raw steel into something useful and memorable.

Every class centers on a hands-on project that students will complete and take home the same day. Along the way, they will practice patience, craftsmanship, and shop safety while enjoying a creative experience that feels both historic and empowering. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity, a willingness to learn, and clothes suitable for workshop activities.

Marshmallow Roasters

In this fun beginner blacksmithing class, students will forge their own marshmallow roaster from steel and take it home ready for the next campfire or backyard cookout. During this 2-hour class, they will learn basic forging skills such as tapering, bending, and shaping hot metal while practicing safe tool use and hammer control. The project is simple, satisfying, and useful, making it a great introduction to blacksmithing for young makers.

Fairy / Knight Nail Swords

In this imaginative beginner blacksmithing class, students will turn ordinary steel nails into tiny fairy or knight swords to take home at the end of class. Over the course of 2 hours, they will learn foundational blacksmithing techniques such as heating, shaping, and detailing small pieces of hot metal while working in a safe, supervised shop environment. This project combines creativity and craftsmanship, giving students a fun introduction to forging through a magical miniature keepsake.
