Celebrate Texas Archaeology Month by exploring the Tonkawa Encampment and creating hand-built clay pots inspired by the pottery traditions of the Tonkawa people of Texas and Oklahoma. No pottery wheel or experience is needed.

Instructor: Retired ceramics teacher Emma Lea Mayton
Location & Duration: Tonkawa Encampment, 10 a.m,. to Noon (2 hours)

Enrollment & Refunds

  • Enrollment must be completed at least one week before the class date.

  • No refunds are offered once the enrollment fee has been received.

  • If a student cannot attend, they may reschedule once on a space-available basis. To reschedule, students must contact us in writing before the class begins at info@pioneerfarms.org. No exceptions.

Prerequisites/Instructions

  • No experience necessary

  • Participants will need to return to Pioneer Farms to pick up their kiln-fired pottery after 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.

  • Bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for walking outdoors.

Age Requirements

  • Class is designed for ages 8 and older.
