Open Shop Night

from $50.00

Our blacksmiths and others from around Central Texas gather on Thursday evenings, just as they often did in guilds during the 1800s, to practice their craft, talk shop and learn new techniques. Our yearly shop fee for this true tradesman experience is well worth the price, if you’re interested in working with hot metal or just networking. This is not a substitute class for beginners, and is intended for practice and networking for students who have blacksmithing experience. Fee is $100 for a year or $50 for six months.

SITE: Hands-on experience. Open on Thursdays January to the second week of December from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.(3 hours) in our Village Smithy, $50 for six months or $100 for a year. No partial refunds will be given.

Participants should wear a cotton or other natural-fiber shirt (long sleeves optional), long pants or jeans, and work boots or close-toed shoes.

Minimum age 18 to sign up. ALL ENROLLEES MUST HAVE BLACKSMITHING EXPERIENCE. All enrollments are subject to availability. All students should wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants and close-toed shoes, and bring a bottle of water.

Important notice: No refunds are allowed once the enrollment fee is received. Students who cannot attend sessions for whatever reason cannot prorate their fee. A limited number of forges are available each week on a first-come, first basis.
