PIONEER PLAYTIME: 19th-century game day, Saturday, Nov. 19
Learn the rules of marbles and become a real sharpshooter.
Try your hand at graces, rolling fun with a hoop.
Challenge others with your whirligig skills.
Come to Pioneer Farms to play frontier games on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a fun day for families and kids of all ages to enjoy the cooler fall weather while stepping back in time — and learning more about how Texans amused themselves more than a century ago.
Games during the 1800s were a way for children and grown-ups on the frontier to get their mind off of chores and mundane daily tasks — get away from the ‘shack nasties,’ as some called it — and entertain them selves with some simple homespun fun.
Pioneer Game Day is free with admission.
Our history sites will be open with new exhibits, and snacks and picnic yummies will be on sale at the General Store.
