tOUGH TEXAS MOMS: Saturday, May 9

‍ ‍See how mothers lived and cared for their families during 19th century Texas, from one-room log cabins to much grander digs. It was not an easy life on the rough-and-tumble frontier, one without any of our modern conveniences.

Even so, tough Lone Star women made lots of history under difficult conditions you can experience as you step back into time to an earlier, simpler era. Looking for a special outing that Mom will remember, this is it!

Mother’s get in for free all day for this special program on Saturday, May 9.

Highlight: Our exclusive new “Girls of Grit” exhibit chronicling the amazing history of Texas women will be a sure fire must-see on Mother’s Day Weekend.

Step back in time from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at our restored history sites where 1800s interpreters will bring Olden Texas alive, in the actual historic homes where some tough Texas ladies once lived. All history sites will be open on the day before Mom’s Special Day, including new exhibits and our Jackson & Giles Mercantile Store offering snacks, drinks and historical souvenirs for Mom to remember her special day.

‍ Come early, stay late.
