HERITAGE PHOTO WORKSHOP: Saturday, September 24

Your pictures are part of our cultural heritage! Learn how to take great pictures at Pioneer Farms along with how to organize and preserve them.

Come learn how to take great pictures of the historical sights at Pioneer Farms, from lighting to depth of field to composition.

John Phelps, with TravelLight Photo Workshops that will conduct the class, said the session will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, and participants will shoot photos and then learn how to share and archive their work for posterity. Registration opens at 5 p.m.

From 5:30 to 6:30, there will be class in Wessels Hall in the Pioneer Farms entrance village on preserving your photos. From 6:30 to 7:30, participants will be out photographing various sites on the Pioneer Farms property as the sun sets. Sunset is at 7:24 p.m. From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. will be a social time Wessels Hall to debrief and share pictures.

The workshop is appropriate for beginning to advanced photographers, high-school age and older, and will include plenty of “shooting time” around Pioneer Farms. Phelps said the best pictures taken in the workshop will be contributed to Pioneer Farms to help them preserve Texas heritage.

An adjustable camera with a tripod is suggested. DSLR or mirror-less with inter-changeable lenses is ideal. The workshop will give beginners lots to do and challenge the advanced photographers, as well, according to Phelps. See more details here.
