A PRAIRIE CHRISTMAS: Dec. 5-6, 12-13, 19-20

Three weekends in December will showcase an exciting "Prairie Christmas" program featuring different activities each weekend.  The first two will offer traditional, family-friendly holiday cheer and an array of fun yule activities--cloggers, singers, a special stage play and show, and more. The last will offer exhibits and hayrides.

On these festive days, 1880s-decorated houses will be available for visitors to see all day. Our historic sites will be all dolled up just like they would have been in the 1800s, and as visitors walk around they can see the history of Christmas in Central Texas. Free hayrides will be available through our historic sites.

On Saturday, Dec. 5, the Clickety Cloggers dance group will perform a special holiday show from 11-12:30 in Wessels Hall at Sprinkle Corner. Food and drink concessions will be available in Sprinkle Corner.

On Sunday, Dec. 6, from 2-3, a one-man play "Bah Humbug" will be performed in Sprinkle Corner by Damien Gillen of San Antonio's Company Theater. This is a fun holiday show for families.

On Saturday, Dec. 12, the Hill Country Players will present a special yule show, "Santa Goes on Strike," in Wessels Hall from 11 to noon. Santa and Mrs. Santa will be present for photos in the Sprinkle Corner town square from 11-2. Horse rides will also be available on site for an extra fee from 11-4.

On Sunday, Dec. 13, the Cedar Park Tuba/Euphonium Quartet will present a special Christmas concert from 1-3 in Wessels Hall at Sprinkle Corner. Santa and Mrs. Santa will be available for photos in the Sprinkle Corner town square from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Friday through Sunday, Dec. 18-20, our historic sites will be decorated for the holidays in the 1800s. Hayrides will be offered on Saturday and Sunday of that weekend. This will be your last weekend to tour Pioneer Farms before the holidays.

In addition, on all seven days, there are exhibits and heritage shopping at our General Store that stocks Austin's best selection of history gifts and collectables — perfect for the holidays.

Candy canes and other give-aways will be offered to visitors on all weekends.

Times: Gates will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Prices: $8 for adults and $6 for children.

Note: This is a separate program from Ebenezer's Journey, a nighttime live-theater show that requires a separate admission ticket and is held on different days and at different times than Prairie Christmas. Pioneer Farms will be closed from 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 5-6 and 12-13 to prepare for the Ebenezer's Journey presentation.
