HILL COUNTRY PLAYERS EXTRAVAGANZA: Saturday, Dec. 10
The talented Hill Country Players, a drama troupe from Hill Country Middle School, will present "Santa Goes on Strike" at 11 a.m. in our historic Wessels dance hall to get the holiday season started off right.
The show is a humorous take on Santa's chores during the holiday season. It's appropriate for all ages, and isnot to be missed.
Regular admission applies.
Also, our 1880s-decorated houses will be available for visitors to see all day. Our historic sites will be all dolled up just like they would have been in the 1800s, and as visitors walk around they can see the history of Christmas in Central Texas. Free hayrides will be available some weekends through our historic sites. Wagon rides will be available other weekends through Dec. 18.
Nightly, from 7-10 p.m. on Dec. 9-10 and 16-17, "A Prairie Christmas," our new adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic holiday story, will be performed in a live-theater presentation at our historic sites. Other fun activities will be available each night, along wth shopping for unique holiday gifts in our General Store. There, you'll find Austin's best selection of history gifts and collectables — perfect for the holidays.
Candy canes and other give-aways will be offered to visitors on all weekends.
Times: Gates will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Prices: $8 for adults and $6 for children.
Note: The daytime holiday programs are separate from 'A Prairie Christmas," a separate ticketed event that is held on different days and at different times . Pioneer Farms will be closed from 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 9-10 and 16-17 to prepare for the 'Prairie Christmas Carol' presentation.
