Home School Day

The days of one-room schools, simple lives, close-knit families, straight-spoken ways and a strong work ethic return for a special day, our popular Home School Day that is scheduled Friday, Sept. 3. It's a special day when homeschooling families in Central Texas are invited to travel back in time and explore Texas history up close and personal.

See real-life Lone Star history at our 1840s Tonkawa Encampment where the first Texans once camped (for real), our 1860s German Immigrant Farm where the Kruger Family once lived with 13 children in a one-room log cabin, our 1870s Texian Farm where the Jourdan Family once homesteaded after traveling cross-country in a wagon from Tennessee, our 1880s Cotton Planter's Farm where judge James Bell once lived and our 1890s Sprinkle Corner village.

Activities will include historical demonstrations, reenactments at our historical sites and fun and games for kids of all ages.

Plan to come early and spend the day!

Schedule: Gates open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

Admission: Special, one-day price of $3 per person.
