at Pioneer Farms - October 4, 2008, 10am - 4pm

Imagine getting to march along with a Marching Band or hearing Taiko Drums up close - so close they make your chest rumble! You ride a musical hayride down a tree-lined path past friendly horses and cows, turn a corner and there's a real, live Mariachi group and - a little further on - a Brass Quintet. Is that a Bagpipe player under that tree? There are all types of music to hear and there are interesting sights to see; you might even get to explore a garden full of musical instruments where you can ry your hand at making music!
The (Third Annual) Austin Family Music Festival is a special day at historic Pioneer Farms featuring performances by family-friendly entertainers like popular recording artists Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison, the Emmy Award winning Biscuit Brothers, "Mr. Steve" current national of of PBS Kids!, and Super Pal Universe - plus its a chance to experience music in a whole new way - up close and personal.

It's more than entertainment
Proceeds from the Austin Family Music Festival directly benefit two non-profit projects: Pioneer Farms - a registered Austin Historic Landmark and a designated Heritage Tourism Destination Site where families can experience life in the 1800s on three historic farmsteads - and the Biscuit Brothers Children's Television Project which provides free television programming to PBS stations throughout Texas and across the nation supplemented by educational materials and experiences for children and parents alike.
Participation in the Family Music Festival helps support a mission of music education and community building and it's also a one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet and interact with children and families who are truly excited about the musical experience and the way it shapes their world. With your help, Austin can be the "Music City," for all ages!
